R&R Labs Podcast Interview: “It’s Not That ‘Men Suck’ — Support For Mothers in General Sucks”

So many moms are unsupported — by family members, by friends, and especially by partners. So many of us go into having children without thinking about what WE are going to need.
— Alexis Barad-Cutler

Last month I had the pleasure of being featured on the Radicals and Revolutionaries Lab — an intersectional, international, and intergenerational podcast with feminist visionaries. Brilliant host Jillian Foster asked me questions I’d never been asked before about the “movement”, and community Not Safe For Mom Group; my own 1950’s upbringing; and the article about finding a babysitter for my kid that got me censored from the internet.

Tune in (by clicking below) to hear my thoughts on how today’s mom influencers — even the honest ones who “tell it like it is” — can still be damaging to moms. I’d love to know what you think, and how you feel about it, too. We also spoke about the reasons I first started (nsfmg) and how, at one point, the portrayal of motherhood on social media warped my own sense of self. This episode digs into the importance of communication and support between partners, the implications of resentment, and more.

We also talk about the number one topic that mothers are most worried about, based on all the DMs we get from folks writing in. (I think you’ll be surprised.) Oh, and we may have figured out how to make life better for future moms by the end of the episode?
